1st visit to the Acadia National Park Archives

Today was my first visit to the Acadia National Park Archives.  Before I went I sent the coordinator a few topics I was looking to cover and she pulled out some amazing pieces, plus a few she thought I might be interested in.  There were items such as old trail posts, park sign blueprints, and even an award won by George Dorr from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society for his plantings in the Mount Desert Nursery, which is now the Wild Gardens of Acadia at Sieur de Monts Springs.  So many amazing items that I loved looking at. I am in the process of planning out the first few paintings and will be ready to start posting them soon.  So excited to start this new series!  Here’s a small taste of what’s to come:
